Prof. Dr Mohan LohaniTribhuvan University
Dear Prof Lohani
I also have known Prateek Pradhan since his TKP days. But this time he may simply have proved the “Peter Principle” right according to which "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence". The cardinal principle of ethical/responsible journalism is “when in doubt, cut it out.” In this instance, he didn’t even need to be in doubt. With a minimum of effort he could have checked the veracity of the news easily, which wasn’t used by any other journalists (this points to the fact that other journalists knew better not to report such hogwash as news) and report in a balanced manner (he could have reported what the minister said and also add one sentence on what is the reality).
I too hope that he will prove that he is a ethical/responsible journalist by issuing a clarification with alacrity and with same level of prominence in order to prove that the Peter Principle is not applicable in his case.
I also thank you for referring my name to the Ph.D. scholar. I especially appreciate the opportunity because I take it as an opportunity to try to ensure that we don’t have one more misguided “learned” person. We already have one too many learned people with superficial knowledge who herself/himself is misguided and is busy misguiding the people and the nation.
With best regards,
Sincerely,

Dear Ratna Sansar ji,
Prateek Pradhan is known to me for the last 20 years when he was economic correspondent for the Kathmandu Post and we worked together to write and edit a Report for the National Planning Commission.I am surprised at his irreponsible reporting by dragging your name when you have nothing to do with raising electricity tariff.I hope he realises his mistake and issues clarification in his Karobar Daily.
I take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your valuable help and guidance to the Ph.D. scholar in the water resources sector.
With regards,
Mohan Lohani
