We can do that. In the referendum we can have two questions in this respect: first question will be yes or no for federalism and second question will be “if yes, whether on the basis of identity of a few ethnocentric groups (out of 118 ethnocentric groups) or on the basis of optimum exploitation of Nepal’s natural resources including water resources in Nepal’s interest.

Dear Ratnajee,

It is a great writeup. In the case of federalisation of the country, however, we should recall that, as important and far reaching in consequence that proposition is, the agenda was thrust upon the country through the hegemonistic move of the Maoists and spineless capitulation of the guilt-haunted NC and UML back in 2006. Thus, the adoption of the federalisation agenda has been totally against any known democratic practice. Therefore, in my opinion the referendum should be for or against federalisation in the first place.
